Title: Future of Deaf Education: Technology-Enhanced Inclusive Pedagogy
Abstract:
This presentation explores the transformative potential of technology in shaping the future of Deaf education, with a central focus on enhancing sign language pedagogy. While sign language remains the cornerstone of effective instruction for Deaf learners, technological advancements offer innovative tools to enrich and expand educational practices. This talk will examine current trends in integrating technology into Deaf education to support language acquisition and literacy development. The presentation will also address critical considerations for ethical and effective technology implementation, emphasizing the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy and ensuring that technology serves to empower, rather than replace, the vital role of sign language and Deaf educators. By investigating both the opportunities and challenges, this presentation aims to provide insights into how technology can be leveraged to create more accessible, engaging, and effective learning environments for Deaf students, ultimately leading to improved educational outcomes and greater inclusion.
